MINING WASTE DISPOSAL — Heavy equipment of the Itogon-Suyoc Resources Inc. at Barangay Poblacion, Itogon, Benguet double time to dispose mine waste aggregates on the sloping side of the mining company’s tailings storage facility. Residents said they noticed violations of mining and environmental laws and have reported to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera citing “Impermissible disposal of mining waste and incidents of animal and fish kills” along rivers. They said great concern goes into the overall stability of the dam as procedures and mining laws appears to have been ignored. — March David Fianza
